Sean "Vile Rat" Smith's Mother On CNN

I've felt a few emotions since I woke up on 12 September to the news that Sean "Vile Rat" Smith was among the four Americans murdered in the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on 9/11/12.  Anger that it happened.  Disbelief that I had a connection to one of the victims through Eve Online.  But as the news came out about what really happened I had a sense of overwhelming disgust at our government who lied cover up politically inconvenient facts about its incompetence.  That incompetence extended to they clumsy lies it put forward, which fueled my disgust even further.  Do they really think the American people are THAT dumb?

But last night for the first time I cried.  Sean's mother was interviewed by Anderson Cooper on CNN.  I didn't know Sean, but this video broke my heart.

Update:  There is a on-line fundraiser for Sean's family still open on You Caring.  If you haven't given yet, please consider going over and contributing.

  1. What's really sad is CCN taking advantage of an obviously grieving mother to score viewer points. Her point is valid. But frankly, the government has no idea what happened there that day and I doubt very seriously they ever will. How did Sean Smith die? He died violently and tragically. That's how he died. Eventually his mother will come to accept he is dead through the course of her grief (denial, anger, negotiation THEN acceptance) and it won't matter to her how he died. She is in the anger stage now it seems. What she needs is grief counseling, not government phone calls and not CNN interviews that take advantage of her emotional turmoil.

    1. If you watch the video, you will see she doesn't even know if he died of a gunshot would or from smoke inhalation. They have the body and they can't even tell her that?

  2. Perhaps you should have watched the Congressional Hearings yesterday when Ms. Lamb, a senior member of the State Department testified that Washington was in near constant contact with one or more of the individuals at the consolate for close to six hours during the attack. "The government" knew real-time that there was no protest over a fifteen minute video tape taking place at the time of the attack. Don't normally watch C-Span but just happened to have it on yesterday for the better part of two hours - find Ms. Lambs detailed description of what occurred and you will know what the government knew and when they knew it.

    1. Apparently the State Department had a conference call with the press on October 9th.

The funny thing is it doesn't match up too well with what the Vice-President said during the debate on October 11th.
